Dear Friends and Community,
We invite you to join us as we gather to honor and celebrate the life of our beloved pastor, mentor, and friend, Pastor Jerrell Walls.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church of North Hollywood, located at 4390 Colfax Avenue, Studio City, CA 91604. This will be a time to remember Pastor Jerrell’s life, faith, leadership, and the deep impact he had on our church and the wider community.
If you would like to volunteer to help with planning or to be of service on the day of the event, please reach out to connect@christchapel.com. Your support and willingness to help are deeply appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Pastor Jerrell’s life and legacy through a charitable donation. Gifts may be made to Christ Chapel of the Valley (CCOV), the church he faithfully led and loved, or to the Human Rights Campaign, an organization reflecting his lifelong commitment to dignity, inclusion, and equality for all. Your generosity will help continue the work that meant so much to him.
We look forward to coming together in love, remembrance, and gratitude for a life so meaningfully lived.
With gratitude,
Christ Chapel of the Valley Board of Directors
May 29, 1959 - January 18, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Pastor Jerrell Walls, who went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2026 following a brief illness. A steadfast and compassionate servant of God, his life was defined by faith, courage, and an unwavering commitment to loving all people.
Raised by pastor parents in Northwest Texas and called to ministry at a young age, Jerrell’s gifts were evident early—teaching Bible lessons to neighborhood children at just ten years old and leading with purpose throughout his youth. A lifelong learner and devoted pastor, he founded Christ Chapel of the Valley in 1992, creating a spiritual home rooted in grace, truth, and inclusion.
Through deep personal reflection and faith, Jerrell reconciled his calling with his identity, answering God’s tug to reach those too often excluded from the church, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. His ministry brought healing, restoration, and belonging to countless lives, extending beyond the pulpit through interfaith leadership, civic service, and advocacy.
Pastor Jerrell Walls leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, integrity, and radical welcome—one that will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Join us for our Sunday morning "come as you are" service at 10:00am. We'll have a cup of coffee and warm welcome waiting for you. After service, be sure to stop by the Fellowship Room for a piece of Bobby's famous baked goods!

You will discover a diverse congregation at CCOV—exactly how God created us! We welcome LGBTQ+ and their straight allies into the full life and ministry of our church. Everyone is welcome.

Reverend Jerrell Walls founded Christ Chapel of the Valley in 1992. Raised by parents who were long-time pastors themselves, he felt called to share the good news of Christ’s love, especially with those in the LGBTQ+ community.

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
